Safe, Structured Play for a Happy Dog
Doggy Daycare
Your dog deserves a fun and enriching experience while you're away where they can play, learn, and relax in a safe environment with experienced professionals.
Why Choose The Canine Connection
for Doggy Daycare?
Leaving your dog home alone can lead to boredom, anxiety, and pent-up energy that often results in unwanted behaviors. But not all dogs thrive in the same daycare environment—some love group play, while others prefer a quieter, more individualized experience.
That’s why we offer group, private, and semi-private daycare to meet your dog’s unique needs. Our commitment to safety and enrichment ensures your dog has a great time—giving you peace of mind.

Group Daycare
Our group daycare program, often called Playcare, is designed for dogs who love socializing and thrive in a playful, structured environment.
Dogs in this program have strong social skills, communicate well through play, respect their fellow canine companions, and respond well to our attentive daycare coaches.
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we carefully group dogs based on size, energy level, and play style, creating four distinct playgroups where every pup feels comfortable and engaged.
For a dog to participate in Playcare, they must integrate smoothly into one of these groups.

Private Daycare
Our private daycare program is tailored for dogs who are selective about their playmates and thrive in a more personalized setting.
These dogs enjoy either one-on-one enrichment sessions with our team or small, carefully managed playgroups with compatible friends.
To keep their minds and bodies engaged, we offer a variety of stimulating activities, such as fetch, sensory trail walks, puzzle toys, scent games, and small group play.
Every session is designed to provide a fulfilling, stress-free experience that meets your dog’s unique needs.

A dog’s field of dreams, come true!
The Canine Connection is the best place in the Chico area for training, doggy daycare, and boarding.
The owner, Sarah Richardson, takes care of her business with attention to detail and suberb professionalism. When I took my newly adopted dog to Basic Obedience, she said my dog had a great temperament for therapy work, so she helped train my pup and I as a therapy dog team, which is incredibly rewarding for both me and my dog.
I can't say enough positive things about The Canine Connection - all of their services are well worth the price. Happy dogs, happy people!

Frequently Asked Questions
-
All dogs who participate in our daycare program must be spayed or neutered by the time they are one year of age.
-
Dogs who are part of our group daycare program (AKA “playcare”) must be able to join one of our four play groups with ease.
We call the groups: “Rough and Readies” (for high energy, playful dogs), “Playful Pooches” (bouncy dogs who play with a little less gusto), “Mature & Mellows” (calm dogs that enjoy the enrichment of daycare without the high energy play), and “The Littles.“
If your dog is not a candidate for group daycare, they can participate in our private daycare program instead.
-
Possibly! With some dogs, we introduce them slowly to our center and staff through short “happy” visits to help build their comfort.
However, your dog must be comfortable interacting with our staff team, our environment, and our routine for them to be part of our program.
Our daycare program isn’t right for every dog. Our commitment to you and your dog is to always do right by your dog, even if it means not including them in our daycare program.
-
Yes, if they are successful with our evaluation procedure!
We do require that pups have completed all required vaccinations, so they must be at least 4 months old.
-
We require that your dog is current on DHPP (distemper-parvo), rabies, and bordetella vaccines. We strongly encourage you to get the CIV (canine flu) vaccine for your dog (NOTE: this is a different vaccination than bordetella).
To begin our daycare program, your dog must also recently have had a clear fecal exam. We require veterinary documentation that your dog has met these requirements.
