Meet the Team

  • Acing Adolescence

    6 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $240

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills

Adolescence, which typically lasts from 6 months to 2 years, is a challenging stage as dogs undergo rapid physical, social, and cognitive changes. This class helps you and your dog get through adolescence by taking the essential skills learned in our foundation classes to a higher level, building their reliability, maintaining your partnership, and keeping the fun in learning!

  • Really Reliable Recall

    4 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $160

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills

Building a reliable recall (aka “get your furry butt back to me now!”) doesn’t require magic but it does require an excellent and consistent training plan - and lots of proper practice! Drawing on fun recall games in real-world settings, you and your dog will put the reliability in your recall, providing your dog with more fun and you with greater peace of mind.

  • Loose Leash Walking

    4 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $160

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills

Is taking your dog for a walk a chore instead of a delight? If your dog tugs or weaves when on leash, making a leisurely walk difficult, then this class is for you! Building on skills learned in our foundation classes, you’ll learn and practice positive ways to reduce leash pulling, increase your dog’s attention to you, build in automatic “leave its,” ignore distractions, and put the wag in your walks!

  • Hounds Around Town

    4 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $160

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills. Loose Leash Manners is also recommended as dogs must walk well on leash.

Take your dog’s manners on the road and build your dog’s public manners! This class meets in different locations around Chico, helping your dog master leash skills, stay focused with distractions, and wait patiently while you chat or pause for a pastry and coffee. This class is a great “next step” for dogs with a solid training foundation ready for real-world practice!

  • Trail Safety & Manners

    4 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $160

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills. Really Reliable Recall is also recommended as your dog must have a solid recall.

Would you like to have more confidence in your dog’s behavior when enjoying the great outdoors? Do you want to build a better distance recall and strategy for outdoor challenges such as wildlife or approaching dogs? Avid hiker and dog trainer, Nancy Kerns, coaches on ways to bring more peace of mind and safety to your outdoor adventures.

  • AKC CGC Prep & Test

    6 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $240

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills. Loose Leash Manners is also recommended as dogs must walk well on leash.

The AKC Good Citizen Test is a recognized evaluation of your dog’s ability to be a “polite member of society.” This 10-item tests assesses your dog’s ability to be calm and comfortable with typical distractions and challenges of public life, ability to perform essential life skills, and their comfort with handling and separation from you. The sixth class is the actual test from an independent evaluator!
