Practical skills for everyday life

Practical Life Skills Classes

  • Acing Adolescence

    6 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $240

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills

Adolescence, which typically lasts from 6 months to 2 years, is a challenging stage as dogs undergo rapid physical, social, and cognitive changes. This class helps you and your dog get through adolescence by taking the essential skills learned in our foundation classes to a higher level, building their reliability, maintaining your partnership, and keeping the fun in learning!

  • The Big Three

    6 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $240

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills

Dog parents frequently say that behaviors they find most difficult to teach (and dogs to learn) are: walking nicely on leash, coming when called, and greeting people politely (without jumping!) - all behaviors that involve significant distractions. In this class, you and your dog will practice the best techniques for mastering “the big three” so you and your dog can enjoy better walks, safer off-leash situations, and calmer greetings.

  • Hounds Around Town

    4 WEEKLY SESSIONS | $160

Prerequisites: Puppy Kindergarten or Essential Life Skills.

Take your dog’s manners on the road and build your dog’s public manners! This class meets in different locations around Chico, helping your dog master leash skills, stay focused with distractions, and wait patiently while you chat or pause for a pastry and coffee. This class is a great “next step” for dogs with a solid training foundation ready for real-world practice!

For dogs who love to move, think, and explore new challenges
