Teen Dog (for puppy dogs between 5-7 months old at first session)

Our Teen Dog class is our introductory class for dogs who are too old for Puppy Kindergarten but are not quite adult dogs. Just as human teens have special needs as they transition into adulthood, so do teenage dogs. Teenage dogs may seem to forget lessons previously learned, be more outwardly focused and easily distracted, and they really appreciate being with their peers! In our Teen Dog class, you will learn how to manage your dog's enthusiastic teenage energy and teach him to:

  • Pay attention to you, even when there are distractions
  • Wait calmly for things he or she wants
  • Greet people calmly (as opposed to jumping on them boisterously)
  • Perform rock solid “canine calisthenics”: sits and downs
  • Begin walking nicely on a leash
  • Come when called – quickly and reliably
  • Feel calm, cool, and collected around other dogs and people
  • See their learning (your training) as an activity that is rewarding and fun!

Tuition Includes:

  • Training toolkit seminar (Session 1- approximately 2.5 hours)
  • Five group sessions with puppies (Sessions 2 to 6 – 50 minutes per session)
  • Essential training equipment ($55 retail value): 20 ft. recall long line, deluxe treat bag, clicker and wrist band (you are not required to use a clicker but many people like to), gear bag
  • Training handouts
  • Grad photos
  • Certificate
  • Free admission to our weekly training practice sessions (mostly loose leash walking and come-when-called), Sundays at 4:30 pm.

Dates/Registration:

Note: The first session, known as our “Training Toolkit Seminar” is an orientation to canine behavior and to our training approach. This session runs from 6:15-8:30 PM. Sessions 2-6 include the pups, of course! Beginning with the second session, each weekly session runs for 50 minutes, beginning at the time noted below.

Small Dog Basics (for dogs under 25 pounds who are 5 months and older)

Small dogs are welcomed in our regular classes, but some owners prefer keeping their diminutive dogs in a class tailored just for the smaller set. Our Small Dog Basics class is a 6-week course (meets weekly) that covers:

  • Walk nicely on a leash
  • Training challenges and behavior solutions that are unique to small dogs

  • Games that make learning fun
  • And more!

Time: Once a week for 6 weeks. The first session, known as our “Training Toolkit Seminar”, is an orientation to canine behavior and training (this session lasts approximately 2½ hours and dogs stay home). Sessions 2-6 include the dogs, of course; these sessions last approximately one hour.

Includes personal equipment/supplies session (approx. 30 minutes), 20 ft. recall long line, deluxe treat bag, clicker and wrist band (you are not required to use a clicker, but many people like to), training handouts, grad photos, certificate, and access to our private Facebook training client page.
