Agility

Dogs jump for joy with agility! Whether you are interested in competition or just taking your dog's training to a higher level, agility can be enjoyed by dogs of all sizes, ages, and breeds. With agility, dogs build confidence in themselves and in you. Plus, agility is great exercise, for the mind and body, for dogs and their people too!

Agility 1

In Agility 1, you and your dog will be introduced to selected agility equipment (A-frame, hurdles, tire, tunnel, and more) in ways that will help develop teamwork and trust between you and your dog. You will learn important handling skills that will help you communicate clearly to your dog and will set the both of you up for success with this fun sport.

Agility 1 is for CURRENT or FORMER STUDENTS of the Canine Connection who have completed either our Pup 2 or Adult 1 Class and can demonstrate their dog has learned important skills. Completion of Pup 3/Adult 2 class is very strongly recommended. Instructor approval may be granted for those who have attended positive reinforcement classes elsewhere, following an evaluation of the handler-dog team.

Rally 1

This dog sport encourages fun while performing obedience behaviors and maneuvers. Dog and handler teams traverse a course, usually maintaining an informal "heel" position, of 10 to 20 stations consisting of various obedience behaviors such as Halt-Sit-Stay, Right Turn, 270 degree Turn Left, Finish Left, and many more. Handlers (owners) are allowed and encouraged to communicate in a positive and encouraging way with their dog. This sport enhances teamwork between owner and dog, and reinforces solid leash skills. This course will introduce dog/handler teams to the Rally Level 1 and 2 behaviors/maneuvers, working up to completing courses of 10 to 15 stations. This course is suitable for continuing Canine Connection students.

Note: Rally O will be best enjoyed if your dog is calm around other dogs, does not pull on a leash when walking, and has achieved at least an intermediate level of obedience.
